Code of Conduct

Please read the Code of Conduct for players, management committee members, parents/guardians/spectators and coaches for Kinross Hockey Club. Membership of the club assumes your acceptance of and agreement with this code.

Players

Compete for enjoyment.
Do your best.
Show team spirit and positive sporting behaviour.
Play within the rules at all times.
Respect colleagues, coaches, opponents and the decisions of officials.
Keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team captain if they are going to be late.
Wear suitable kit (including shin pads and gum shields) for training and match sessions.
Pay any fees for membership, training, matches or events promptly.
Junior members are not allowed to smoke or consume alcohol on the club premises or whilst representing the club.
No illegal activities will be tolerated.

Management Committee Members

Will represent the club to the best of their ability.
Will attend meetings when called.
Carry out any tasks set out by the President.
Show respect to all players, coaches and spectators.
Promote the club to its full potential.
On match days carry out the club's best intentions to visiting teams.
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body.
Consider the safety of all concerned on match days and during other club activities.
Treat everyone equally and fairly.
Abide by the rules of the club.

Parents, Guardians and Spectators

Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
Never force your child to take part in sport.
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
Publicly accept officials' judgements.
Support your child's involvement and help them to understand that the enjoyment of sport and fair play are more important than winning.
Use correct and proper language at all times.
Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

Coaches

Remember that players participate for the enjoyment and winning is only part of the fun.
Never ridicule or yell at players for making a mistake or not winning.
Be reasonable in demands on player's time, energy and enthusiasm.
Operate within the rules and spirit of the game and teach their players to do the same.
Ensure that the time players spend with them is a positive experience. All players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
Avoid overplaying the talented players and understand that the average players need and deserve equal time.
Will not use bad language nor will they harass players, officials, spectators or other coaches.
Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.
Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport including opponents, umpires, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators, and encourage players to do the same.
Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players and follow advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to commence training or competition.
Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of young players.
Will not arrive at the venue intoxicated or drink alcohol at junior matches.
Will not allow the unlawful supply of alcohol at training, games or club functions.
Will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender, ability or cultural background.
Will promote adherence to anti-doping policies.
