Spreading the knowledge

One of the joys of the club having its own pitch is the opportunity for people to quietly pass on knowledge to others. So on Wednesday we had one of the ladies teaching one of the girls’ development squad how to drag flick. It’s going to be an awesome season.

Club day 2018

Two ladies ganging up on an old man… Well we got away with it by the skin of our teeth in terms of the weather – threatening all day, but not actually raining until the last few minutes, but what a good time we had! There was hockey skittles, hockey bowling, hockey croquet, target shooting … Read more

Kobras at St Andrews

The Madras tournament is traditionally the nice one – a summer’s day in St Andrews should be balmy warm, the surroundings are nice, and Madras have been known to turn up with cakes from Fisher and Donaldson. It’s well worth turning up for on the whole. Not this time though. The U10s got away with … Read more

Summer workshops

Tonight saw the first of our summer skills workshops, with the focus on short corner skills. It’s fair to say that everyone got a great deal out of it – it makes a big difference to be able to focus on one area for two hours solid, without having to worry about time or temperature. … Read more

Korinthians versus ladies

Last night the Korinthians marked the end of their season with the annual match against the L2s (although there appeared to be quite a few players who resembled Ladies 1s players involved!) As ever, the Korinthian spirit was nowhere to be seen, and it was another hard-fought encounter with the Ladies losing out to a … Read more

Drag night

Lots of fun down at KAS tonight, as we welcomed Scotland international player Gavin Byers, who was running a drag flicking workshop for a select bunch of players from around the club. The weather was rotten (almost as bad as my photography), but it’s fair to say that a good time was had by all. Alex … Read more

Long-duhration walkies

Congratulation and thanks to last year’s club president, Gurdi Duhre, who walked the West Highland Way a few weeks back and has used some of the proceeds to subsidise all those lovely Kinross Hockey Club stick bags that arrived a few weeks back.

Potty in pink

While it may have looked like a dangerous band of escaped lunatics, yesterday’s invasion of the KAS pitch was in fact the participants in the annual Playing in Pink tournament, the annual fancy dress bash at which ladies teams from all over the place compete to outdress, outplay and ultimately outdrink each other, all in … Read more

Dev squad debuts

Sunday saw the first outing of our girls development squad – a close encounter with Grove Menzieshill on a sweltering afternoon at KAS. Huge fun was had and honours were even, as Kinross corrected a two-goal deficit at half-time to end it 2-2.   A great learning experience for everyone and a prospect of good things … Read more
